What is a Clever Dodo Community
It is a group of people with the same passion in one place where members help each other out, share their knowledge and have thoughtful and in-depth discussions about the things which are of interest to them.

Why do we have a point system
This is just a way to reward members for their awesome contribution. It makes it easier to see who in the community is new and who are the eldest, most respected and most helpful.
We may also in the future use that to give our members discounts on our products and services.

What are the different levels and privileges available
How do I disactivate my account? We do not hold any details which could be used to identify you as an individual and therefore all posts made on this website are anonymous in nature. If you no longer wish to use Clever Dodo, then all you have to do is change your email preferences so as not to receive any communication from us. We will not remove any posts you've made in the past but if you really want to, then contact us and we will set your account to "Inactive" status which will prevent you or anyone else from logging in to your account.
Is self promotion or advertising allowed? No, not only is this not allowed but we'll also take action against members who do that. If you're registering just to post a link to your website in your answer, then it will be immediately unpublished. Contribute to the community first and then we'll probably allow you to promote your own things.
What are those advertisements shown on the website? We have contextual ads on Clever Dodo. They are supposed to be highly relevant to the content displayed and one block is shown at the top of the page and one at the bottom. These ads are only displayed if you're not logged in though.
Topics, posts and comments.
How do discussions work
Two main things make up a great discussion; the topic and its related comments.
A great title for your topic will attract lots of good comments, so make sure you craft your title properly.
You should write the title in such a way that people can instantly know what the topic is about without looking at anything else.
Some examplesGood deeds - too short
I think that people doing good deeds should not hope for good karma back as that ruins the nobleness of their act - too long
Doing good deeds without expecting anything in return - descriptive and to the point, perfect!
How can I delete a topic, comment or reply I've posted
Although you have the facility to edit your own posts, each change has to be approved by a moderator before it is published. Before this rule was implemented, users were trying to remove their whole post which broke the flow of conversation and subsequent comments and replies would not make any sense. This impacts the quality of our site.
Therefore, we urge you to think well before posting as edits have to be justified if they are done 1hr after you've made the post. The edit feature allows you to correct mistakes and to improve your own posts, so please use it for those reasons.
How do I bold a phrase?
If you want to bold the phrase "hello you", you just need to put 2 asterisks before and after it - eg **hello you** will become hello you.
How do I make a phrase italic?
For italics, you need only 1 asterisk before and after the phrase - eg *how are you* will become how are you.
How do I put links in questions/answers/comments?
You need to use the Markdown syntax as follows:
[anchor text](link starting with http)
eg [Clever Dodo](https://www.cleverdodo.com) will turn into Clever Dodo
How do I include an image in my post?
It's the same syntax as for links but preceded by an exclamation mark eg ![some words to describe your image](link to image)
It's a lot of fun meeting up with like-minded people and talking face to face.
What is a meetup
A meetup is an event organised by the community for local members to meet up. It can be for a general chat in person or to do something planned together.
How does it work
Once you've added your address to your profile, you will see a list of other members in the community who live near you (within a radius of 5 miles). Local members can suggest meetups and others can indicate their interest in the event by RSVPing.
Is it safe to meet up in person
There is a list of the number of people who are planning to attend each meetup. You can use that as a way to decide whether to go or not; if it's just going to be you and someone else, then exert caution but if it's going to be a lot more people joining in, then it should be safer for you.
